North Korea is likely to test-fire its most advanced inter-continential ballistic missile, the Hwaseong-15, rather than to try new types.
That's according to a 38 North article Sunday by Vann H. Van Diepen.
The former U.S. State Department and intel official dealing with WMD speculate, the regime will most likely pursue improvements in the operational effectiveness of ICBMs with single warheads.
The decision to test an ICBM would be governed primarily by political objectives rather than programmatic factors... conducted within parameters set by Kim Jong-un.
Van Diepen believes the Pyeongyang does not have the capability to develop solid-fuel ICBMs.
