Significant rainfall is likely to spark “flash flooding and landslides” across Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland. However, following this, regions of Europe could see temperatures surge up to 16C above normal for late October.  BBC’s meteorologist Phil Avery warned that the extreme weather will last until the end of the month. The so-called "extreme temperature anomaly" will intensify across central and south-western Europe.  The "unusually extremely warm airmass" will move across the Alpine region, which could see temperatures 15C above October averages.  BBC’s meteorologist Phil Avery warned Europeans to pay attention to the forecasts, amid quickly shifting weather patterns.  Mr Avery said: “These clouds around northern and western parts, that is where you find the unsettled weather. “The skies are much clearer further to the south and east, and with all that sunshine around. “It is still feeling like summer in Central Europe. Over the next week, here, we turn on the warmth. “Some of these temperatures will be around 10C above what we would expect at this time of year.  “That is not the case all over the Alpine region, and further to the north and northwest regions. “From Monday, we see that weather front making a bit more progress “There that unsettled fair, anywhere from the northern Spain and Portugal, into the heart of France, Poland, northern part of Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and the Baltic States. “Development on its southern portion brings a lot of rain, and I mean, a lot of rain, risk of flash flooding and landslides.”   Trending  According to meteorologist Marko Korosec, temperatures across east-central Europe will intensify to 30C next week. He said: “The blocking ridge over east-central Europe should intensify and bring another week of extremely warm days for late October. “Afternoon temperatures locally climb into 26-29C range!” He also warned that an extreme amount of rainfall, up to 400mm, will sweep across the western Alps through the next three days. The rainfall threat has also triggered flood warnings for Italy, Switzerland and France for Sunday and Monday. The unusual weather will also see “a lot of fresh snow” across this region, with more than 100 cm expected by Tuesday morning.
