Will People Actually Storm Area 51?

Will People Actually Storm Area 51? 1.3 million people have now signed up for a Facebook event called "Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All Of Us." The event page says to meet on September 20th and rush onto the secret military base to "see them aliens." Organizers admit that it's all a joke, but local police reportedly say they are ready to arrest anyone who tries to trespass on the base and will use non-lethal force, including tear gas and pepper spray.

Meanwhile, the military is responding. A United States Air Force spokesman issued this statement: "The United States Air Force is aware of the Facebook post. The Nevada Test and Training Range is an area where the Air Force tests and trains combat aircraft. As a matter of practice, we do not discuss specific security measures, but any attempt to illegally access military installations or military training areas is dangerous."

Now celebrities are getting in on the joke. Lil Nas X dropped an Area 51 themed music video for his latest 'Old Town Road' remix on Tuesday. The Jonas Brother's Kevin Jonas, singer Lizzo and actor Danny Trejo have all shared their own area 51 memes.
