Scientist Reed Richards (John Krasinski) persuades his arrogant former classmate, Victor von Doom, to fund his experiments with cosmic energy. On von Doom's space station, the crew -- including astronaut Ben Grimm, researcher Sue Storm (Emily Blunt) and pilot Johnny Storm (Ansel Elgort) -- are exposed to a mysterious cosmic storm that bestows super powers upon them and awake in an alternate (familiar) universe.

It’s been an absolute whirlwind of news out of Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and the updates somehow didn’t stop coming right up until the very end.

After confirming the casts, plot details, and release dates for almost a dozen upcoming projects, Kevin Feige casually seemed to confirm that a Fantastic Four reboot is, in fact, in development along with “the mutants.” (X-Men). That’s how it sounds, at least; the Marvel President told the crowd they “didn’t have time” to talk about titles like Fantastic Four, the X-Men, or Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2, right before dropping the bombshell that Mahershala Ali would lead a Blade film. [We’ve updated this story to reflect that these films won’t be a part of Phase 4, more likely the inevitable Phase 5]

So yeah, the MCU is getting mighty crowded these days, and the next weeks, months, and years are going to be filled with insane casting announcements, crossovers, and all kinds of comic book goodness.

It's been a long time coming, but Marvel Studios has finally announced its Phase 4 slate of movies.

As expected, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige took the opportunity during the studio's Comic-Con panel today (July 20) to reveal what fans can expect next – and when they can expect it, barring any release date changes.

First up (although last to be announced) on May 1, 2020 is Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz.

The Eternals will be released on November 6, 2020 and has a confirmed cast of Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is released on February 12, 2021, with Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tony Leung cast as the Mandarin (sorry Trevor Slattery) and also starring Awkwafina in an unconfirmed role.

Next up is the brilliantly-titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that promises to be the MCU's first "scary" movie when it's released on May 7, 2021. Benedict Cumberbatch won't be the only Avenger either as Elizabeth Olsen will be in it as Scarlet Witch.

As confirmed earlier this week, we are getting a fourth Thor movie and it'll be called Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are back (obviously), but the surprise return is Natalie Portman. It'll be out on November 5, 2021.

And if all of that wasn't enough, Feige also confirmed Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel 2 and Mutants (aka X-Men) will all be released during Phase 4 too.

Oh, and the completely unexpected Blade movie, starring Mahershala Ali in the lead role.
