Billy Porter didn't disappoint Sunday at the 25th annual Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica when he hit the red carpet in a striking mini green Hogan McLaughlin gown-like jumpsuit.

The 50-year-old actor and singer teamed the jumpsuit with a swarm of butterflies, painted over his shoulders and arms.

The bodyart had particular meaning for the actor, according to makeup artist Anna Bernabe, who spent an hour at her work.

'Billy’s intention [was] to embrace freedom,' she told Vogue. 'Butterflies represent a personal metamorphosis.

'The multiple butterflies [all over his body symbolize] the numerous transformations and rebirths one goes through during a lifetime.'

Porter was nominated at the ceremony for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

The Best Actor in a Drama Series award ultimately went to Jeremy Strong from Succession. The HBO series also took home the Best Drama Series award, beating out Pose.

Meanwhile Billy's co-star MJ Rodriguez was nominated in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category, but the award went home with Watchmen's Regina King.

Despite not winning, Billy still looked like he had a great time at the award show.

Billy also stopped to pose with writer and activist Janet Mock, who seemed to be on the same wavelength when it came to the evening's fashion choices.

She complemented him in a teal dress, which she spiced up with long sparkling gloves.
