I moved into my inner city apartment here in Stockholm a year ago and did some initial renovations before moving in like updating the kitchen, sanding the floors and painting everything. It’s been amazing living here but I’ve had a few little things that have bothered me.
You know, the things you see or touch everyday that are just not right.
So I’ve been working on fixing them and I thought I’d share and maybe inspire you to get one of those little annoyances done in your home too.
1. SPAY PAINTING LIGHT SWITCHES
Someone had suggested in a comment to spray paint them and I was initially unsure if it would work but decided to give it a go.
It took a few days because there was limited space in my spray box but it turned out so well and I’m a happy camper!
2. FLIMSY WARDROBE HANDLES
These wardrobes were already in my apartment when I moved in.
The handles were both flimsy and small which annoyed me.
Got me a scrap piece of natural leather and used carpet tape to stick it to the new handles I bought. Screwed them back and hey presto!
3. HIDING OUTLETS
In my bedroom I had a rats nest of outlets and stuff on one of the walls and I couldn’t stand to look at it.
I also needed for my router to be in that area.
he solution came when I though of maybe building a box to go around it all and then realised I have a box that can go around it all. I was able to just slip it over the whole mess and then put the router on top.
4. TILE CHIP IN BATHROOM
I love my bathroom.
One thing that has been an eyesore since I moved in is a tiny, tiny chip off one other he tiles. It’s basically in my line of sight every single day and finally I just decided to fix it.
A bit of left over paint from other projects, paint brushes and about 30 seconds later it was done.
5. FRIDGE GAP
The fridge/freezer that came with the apartment needed replacing before I moved in.
The fridge I ended up buying had the handles on the sides and there ended up being a gap between the slot for the fridge. It looked a bit unfinished.
I saved a narrow oak picture ledge that I built ages ago. Would you believe if I said it was the perfect fit?
6. CLOSET DOOR HOOK
I needed somewhere to be able to hang a hanger and there wasn’t really a good place for it until I came up with attaching a hook to the actual doors of the utility cabinet.
I didn’t want to drill a hole if I could avoid it so I tried using command trips on a hook I already had and it worked!
