A Relay With NO Crimping OR Soldering?! | Solid State Relay From Kaizenspeed [TECH TALK]

A Relay With NO Crimping OR Soldering?! | Solid State Relay From Kaizenspeed [TECH TALK] How can you install a relay without crimping or soldering? Let's find out.

It's not often we see an innovative new take on old technology, but the standalone solid-state KAIZEN Relay from KAIZENSPEED is just that. At the latest SEMA Show Reid Lunde took the time to run us through what has been improved on since mechanical relays had their last upgrade in 1985, and how this helps bridge the gap between them and a PDM/PDU option with cost in mind.

The ability to 'daisy chain' or interconnect a number of relays together with the use of pogo pins allowing a draw of up to 40A per relay or 100A per bank of relays. As an added bonus, once you have set up one relay with power and ground, you don't need to do so again for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th relay in your chain meaning no extra splicing and ease of expansion as your loom grows with your vehicle.

One interesting aspect and a fight Reid is prepared to take to the motorsport industry is the use of spring cage technology which enables these relays to be installed without the use of specialist tools beyond a wire stripper. This type of connection has been well tested in industrial wiring looms and does include resistance to water ingress via a setup similar to what you'd find on a Deutsch connector.

Also discussed is the control module which can allow a single CAN bus connection along with 3 analog inputs and outputs, LED status indicators and pulse width modulation abilities allowing speed control for fans and pumps as well as refined control for exterior lighting.
