- Hi, I'm Jen and I'm Manager of the Training Department and this is Whitney, one of our certified trainers. And we're gonna be doing some fun recall races today. So these are the dogs that we're gonna be working with. We've got Copper the Vizsla, Sam the Pyrenees and Charlie the Papillon. So the game that we're playing today is called Recall Races. So this is a fun one that you can do if you have a multi-dog household or if you have some friends over that have dogs. So we're gonna be using an emergency recall today with this game. So an emergency recall is a little bit different than your everyday recall. Everyday recall is "Come! Here!" something that you use around the house or with short distances. An emergency recall is something that you use when your dog is far away from you or it's kind of an emergency situation like they're running out the front door, running in front of a car, something like that. So an emergency recall needs to be a little bit louder and it needs to be able to carry a little bit farther. So the emergency recall that we're gonna be using with these dogs today is "Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa!" So it's a high-pitched, staccato sound that's gonna make them want to come to us. So Whitney is gonna distract these guys. I'm gonna move away and then I'm gonna use my emergency recall to try to call them over to me and whichever dog gets to me first is the winner. Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa! Good Charlie! Yep, dogs! Good dog. So Charlie was the winner of that one and we'll do that a couple times. All right, go back and see Whitney. Where's Whitney? Go see Whitney! Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa! Come on Sam! Oh good Charlie! Good Sam! Copper! Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa! Yes, Copper! Good dogs! Good job! Sam almost got it that time. OK, we'll try one more time. Go see Whitney! Go see Whitney! So we're gonna do that one more time. Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa! Yay! Good job, Charlie! All right! Good girl, Copper! Good job, Sam! So that was a fun little game that you can play using an emergency recall. So that was recall races, so you can do that with a multi-dog household or if you have friends over that have dogs, anything like that. So it doesn't have to be a serious competition. And this competition wasn't quite fair because we've got a fast little Papillon and then our sweet Pyre Sam who's on Pyre time so he takes a little bit longer to get over to ya. But it's all just about having fun and really reinforcing that emergency recall.
