Not only for yoga and spirituality, Rishikesh is also popular for white-water rafting center, backpacker hang-out and Himalayan-trekking gateway. It's situated on the banks of the Ganges River, surrounded by hills, near by Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
Rishikesh lures those seeking knowledge and peace with its numerous temples, ashrams, and yoga institutes. Despite the growing number of visitors, the town’s lanes and alleys retain an old-world charm, and it remains a wonderful place to relax and unwind among nature.
I spent two days in the town and experienced the glory of river Ganges and the Himalayan. It was October when I visited there and shot for this vlog. The place is best avoided during the monsoon months from July to August, as it receives heavy rain. Rafting is also closed during this time.
As I did, One can wander around and explore the town on foot and it would be delightful. Cross either of the two suspension bridges and you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the town and river. You can also take a boat across the river near Ram Jhula as an alternative to walking. I took a ride in the boat and it was as much cheaper as your morning cup of tea. INR 10 for one side and 15 for both sides.
For Nature lovers, Rishikesh is the excellent place for trekking. For me it was a delightful experience and I would try to keep visiting the town again.
