Mental Health Awareness in India

Mental Health Awareness in India The Yellow Umbrella - Mental Health Festival is an initiative by Surat Global Shapers to explore and celebrate the widespread use of creative means to promote mental well-being and its awareness. Team TYU comprises of purpose-driven enthusiasts who strive to create a safe abode for one and all to share and explore mental health and illness. It’s a one-of-a-kind fest to bring structural mental health awareness to light.

A study conducted by the World Health Organization states that there are almost 60-65 million people in India who suffer from common mental issues. The causes for such an alarming scenario are the lack of awareness, financial constraints, and the stigma and shame associated with it. TYU aspires to create the perfect place for all to step up, let one's feelings out and welcome an unashamed conversation. Through innumerable creative events like film screening, art, dance, clay and theatre therapies, expert help and support groups, mindfulness, meditation and the like, we wish to become the catalyst between like-minded people and help them develop a deeper understanding of the mental needs and wellness. Come let’s spread the message of hope & healing.
