বাংলাদেশ একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চা উৎপাদক দেশ। এটি বিশ্বের 12 তম বৃহত্তম চা প্রযোজক। ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানিটি 1840 সালে চট্টগ্রামে চা বাণিজ্য শুরু করার সময় তার চা শিল্পটি ব্রিটিশ শাসনের দিকে ফিরে আসে। আজ দেশে 166 টি বাণিজ্যিক চা এস্টেট রয়েছে, যার মধ্যে বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম শ্রমিকের সংখ্যা রয়েছে। এই শিল্পটি বিশ্বব্যাপী 3% চা উৎপাদন, এবং 4 মিলিয়ন মানুষের বেশি নিয়োগ।

উত্তর ও পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় জেলায় চা উৎপন্ন হয়, উচ্চভূমি, তাপমাত্রা, আর্দ্রতা এবং এই জেলার মধ্যে ভারী বৃষ্টিপাত উচ্চ মানের চা উৎপাদনের জন্য উপযুক্ত ভূমিকা সরবরাহ করে।

Bangladesh is an important tea-producing country. It is the 12th largest tea producer in the world. Its tea industry dates back to British rule, when the East India Company initiated the tea trade in Chittagong in 1840.Today, the country has 166 commercial tea estates, including many of the world's largest working plantations.The industry accounts for 3% of global tea production, and employs more than 4 million people.

The tea is grown in the northern and eastern districts, the highlands, temperate climate, humidity and heavy rainfall within these districts provide a favourable ground for the production of high-quality tea.
