Why make direct eye contact with the camera during your personal branding photo session?

Why make direct eye contact with the camera during your personal branding photo session? When you're building an image content portfolio that will build an audience of those who need your help the most, you need a variety of photos to get the job done.

I talk a lot about the importance of candid lifestyle portraits that capture you engaging in day-to-day activities - working on the computer, taking phone calls, brainstorming ideas, etc. - as a way to familiarize yourself with your audience.

And there is no doubt those photos are important.

But also, you need to leverage portraits where you're looking directly into the camera. These photos serve a different, but similarly important function.

It has to do with the immediate emotional connection that these portraits create with the viewer of the image.
