Time to rest & restore, letting go of tension in shoulders & neck

Time to rest & restore, letting go of tension in shoulders & neck Welcome to Gracefulbow Yoga Studio with me Stephanie, the fourth class of our new online
series! Join me today to focus on letting go of built up tension in your neck and shoulders. Making time to go slow, to pause, to breathe deep, invite in rest and inner peace. Especially at this time of year it can be a busy time and we are now fully in winter, time to slow down. A perfect time to nourish yourself with some restorative practice and invite in time for reflection and meditation.

We need balance in our practice and in our life just as the body needs to be in balance internally to function. One of the essential factors we all need for a balanced and healthy life is enough rest and sleep so that the body and mind can restore in a natural way. There are postures incorporated within this practice to help the body prepare for natural sleep and rest.

This is a lovely practice to do if you are feeling a little stressed, tense, and tired. A lot of the time when we feel like this it is the shoulders and neck that get tight and uncomfortable. Learning to take time to sit still breathe deep and listen to what you need to bring yourself back into balance. When we rest, the body naturally repairs and restores. By moving in a more yin way we are giving our self time to let go of built up tension and prepare the body for sleep with a feeling of calm and relaxation.

This practice can be done anytime of the day especially when you need to feel calm and would like to prepare for meditation or need to feel relaxed about something important that you have coming up in your life. Make space to give yourself the time to practice with compassion, remember no one can run on empty. Fifty-two minutes for you to rest and restore, let’s bring balance back starting by being kind to yourself. Maybe invite over a friend or family member to practice together we always feel better with good supportive company. This is your time just for you, enjoy and breathe deep. Let me know how you get on, be lovely to hear from you?

Remember that you can take this class any place and anywhere. This is one of my favourite practices and I am excited to share this class with you so you can continue to bring your balanced practice to your home, on your travels, or even practice together with friends and family.

Just to make you aware that this is a general class for all, if you have any medical conditions, injuries, recurring injuries, etc. please do check with your doctor first before practicing. This is not a pregnancy yoga class.

You can subscribe to our channel to keep updated on the next class to be released. It has been a wonderful journey of creativity and I look forward to continuing to share classes with you.

See you on the mat, with kind thoughts, kind words and kind intentions, Stephanie Pena @gracefulbowyoga
