i started off the season comparing the z man chatterbaits or bladed jigs as some call them now..
well let's just say from the beginning i doubted how much better the jackhammer could be than the original and i'm still there..
i won't be buying anymore jackhammer baits...
the original starts up and feels just like the jackhammer..
what i did find while going in depth with chatterbaits is that there's a company out there called Omega Customs Tackle making a bladed jig that actually hunts or what i call walk the dog when paused or changing retrieve speed..
i also found out that bass can be pretty selective when fishing a chatterbait..
colors and blade colors can make a difference as well as some days they won't hit a chatterbait as easily as they will a spinnerbait..
so i recommend having a few different chatterbaits along with spinnerbaits to cover what they may be hitting best when they don't seem to be on a hardbait bite...
i also found out that i've been throwing to small of a lipless crank or rattletrap my whole life..lol
i'm not saying i'll stop throwing 1/2oz. or even 1/4oz. traps but i can guarantee you i'll also be throwing 3/4oz. lipless baits as well...
i discovered that the old excalibur lipless crank is still being made by booyah..
their hardknocker is the real deal and worked way better than the other lipless cranks i tried.
i tried strike king, cordell, and the original rattletrap along with a few others and the hardknocker hands down beat them all.. second would have to be the orginal rattletrap followed by the cordell .... strike king red eye shad was dead last..
sorry but i'm just not a fan of strike king.. over the years i've always had better luck with other baits over strike king and may set out this coming season to show you guys what i'm talking about...
