The Cleveland Browns are one of the oldest professional football franchises in existence today. The team was first established way back in June of 1944.
The franchise was founded in 1945 by Paul Brown and businessman Arthur B. McBride as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). Although the franchise took a brief hiatus in the form of a ‘suspension’ between 1995 and 1999, they are now back where they belong, playing at FirstEnergy Stadium in front of the Cleveland Faithful.
And while A LOT has changed – both for the Cleveland franchise and within the landscape of professional football – one thing has remained constant…. The Browns ugly orange helmets… Which have somehow become one of the most iconic helmets in all of the NFL, despite being completely devoid of any logos and sporting a putrid shade of orange.
There are no sporty lightning bolts down the sides of them like the Los Angeles Chargers helmets… Nor are there any sleek ram horn designs on the sides like the Los Angeles Rams.
Just burnt orange.
