The Art of Coir Making II World's Best Coir Production

Kerala is the first state in india to develop coir factory.Still there is great demand globally for the coir prepared in southern part of Kerala.Due to drastic decline of Coconut cultivation and farming , this coir manufacturing was undertaken by other states of india. Government allotted minimal fund and aid for the enterprises,but the neglects from the part of government also added for this issue. Now there are few coir units. Due to the influence of electric machines, the traditional method of handmade coir product is also diminished. This drastically affected the livelihood of people involved in this work.
One of the most important coir unit in kerala is in the Paravoor backwater coast.

ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കയർവ്യവസായം ഉത്ഭവംകൊണ്ട നാടാണ് കേരളം. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് തെക്കൻകേരളത്തിലെ കയറുത്പന്നങ്ങൾക്ക് ലോകരാജ്യങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ ഇപ്പോഴും വലിയ ഡിമാന്റാണ്.പക്ഷേ തെങ്ങുകൃഷിയുടെയും കർഷകരുടേയും തകർച്ചയോടെ കേരളത്തിൽ നിന്നും കയർ വ്യവസായം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. സർക്കാർസഹായം കൂടി സമയത്തുലഭിക്കാതായതോടെ കേരളത്തിലെ കയർവ്യവസായം തകർച്ചയിലായി. ഇപ്പോൾ വിരലിലെണ്ണാവുന്ന യൂണിറ്റുകൾ മാത്രമേ കേരളത്തിലുള്ളൂ. ഇലക്ട്രിക് ഉപകരണങ്ങളുടെ വരവോടെ പരമ്പരാഗത കയർതൊഴിലാളികളുടെ ജീവിതമാർഗ്ഗവും ഇല്ലാതായി.
കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കയർവ്യവസായ മേഖലയാണ് കൊല്ലംജില്ലയിലെ പരവൂർ കായൽത്തീരം.
