Harriet is on the Old Cam Tree drying her wings and preening and we get to see her brood patch for the very first time this season! A brood patch is a patch of featherless skin that is visible on the underside of birds during the nesting season. This patch of skin is well supplied with blood vessels at the surface making it possible for the birds to transfer heat to their eggs when incubating.
Both the male & female will have brood patches as both actively take turns incubating the eggs. ♥♥ There is a cameo appearance of M incubating the eggs at 7:49 and a small bird flies past Harriet at 9:39. Thank you for watching!
