With several country stars dropping new albums ahead of the busy holiday season, many artists say that they do read critics' reviews of their records – but take them with a grain of salt.
Country trio Lady Antebellum released their new album "Ocean" just days after the CMA Awards last week, where singer Hillary Scott said she was sleepless with excitement.
Her bandmate, Charles Kelley, added that he doesn't read every review but "you definitely kind of want to see what people are saying."
"This might not be a record for everybody. But you know what we've, we've started to tell ourselves is is put stock in the process and not, not necessarily outcome so much."
Country singer Tyler Rich said he does read reviews "to an extent."
"It's always good to know what people are saying, even if they are the haters on the internet," said the singer. "It's good to know if even the haters are loving it or if the haters are hating like usual. But yeah, I'll read a little bit… The good comments always you know lift the endorphins enough."
However, Rich's wife, actress Sabina Galecki says she stays away from the comments section.
"I'm very sensitive and I can see 100 positive things and like that one thing will hurt me very deeply," she said.
Country star Luke Combs is one of country music's hottest young stars and his new record "What You See Is What You Get" is so popular, it hit became the No. 1 album all genre this week.
The singer said he still reads reviews, even if he doesn't give them a lot of weight.
"I enjoy hearing what people think, good or bad," said Combs. "I wouldn't want to base anything off of a review of my album, but I feel like there's at some points can be some insight hidden in there, for sure."
