Catherine Pugh PLEADS GUILTY to conspiracy, tax evasion charges Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh entered a guilty plea Thursday to four of the 11 federal charges filed against her, based on accusations she used her children's books as a ruse to raise money for her campaign and a new house. Pugh, 69, was charged Nov. 14 with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, seven counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and two counts of tax evasion. The charges were made public Wednesday. Pugh pleaded guilty to the conspiracy and tax evasion charges. The remaining charges generally get dismissed at sentencing, officials said.
