Can we tell if there's a wormhole in the Milky Way? This is a brief comment on an article by Dennis Overbye that recently appeared in the New York Times

I explain in this video why wormholes are not a prediction of general relativity that is even remotely comparable to the prediction of black holes or the expanding universe or gravitational waves. The existence of wormholes is pure speculation. In fact, if we trust our theories, then we have more reason to think they do not exist than they do exist.

I further explain why studying the consequences of mathematical fiction like this is not a promising scientific route to progress.
