Azathioprine (Imuran) – Prescription Medication Instructions for Post-Transplant Patients Azathioprine (Imuran) is prescribed to help prevent rejection of a transplanted organ after surgery.

Guidelines for use:
Frequency is once a day, exact same time.
Never miss a dose, unless otherwise instructed.
Take with or without food.
May take before or after blood work.
Can be cut in half.
