Automatic License Plate Recognition using deep learning

In modern-day transportation systems vehicles play a vital role. Automatic License plate recognition provides a standard means of identification for any vehicle. It can be used in school campuses, public car parks or in urban traffic to recognise license plates for security purposes. The recent advances in Parallel Processing and Deep Learning (DL) have contributed to improve many computer vision tasks, such as Object Detection/Recognition and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which clearly benefit ALPR systems.
To serve this purpose, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) system was developed. This consisted of four major steps:
1. Preprocessing of obtained image,
2. Extract the particular region of license plate
3. Segmentation
4. Character recognition.
