Ambient jam with Moog Matriarch and Subsequent 37, Strymon Big Sky, Eventide Space and Timefactor

Ambient jam with Moog Matriarch and Subsequent 37, Strymon Big Sky, Eventide Space and Timefactor A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by the thoughtfulness that comes with a beautiful autumn day. The Moog Matriarch is still basically impossible to find in Canada, but a local acquaintance got one from the States and wasn't super connecting with it. I took it home to try and I'm happy to say it sounds as good as I'd hoped. The Matriarch's oscillators are bright, its stereo filter adds a lot of colour, and its stereo analogue delay sounds dark and moody. It's fantastic, and I wrote this sequence within an hour or so of tinkering with it.

Maybe the biggest surprise, though, was how well the Moog Subsequent 37 stands up to it. The Subsequent 37's drive manages to help it carve out some space in the mix, and its filter and vibrato are ridiculously expressive. While it's missing the Matriarch's stereo features, and doesn't have the same amount of paraphony, I'd say the Subsequent 37 sounds just as good when run through the Eventide delay and reverb.
