Cavity Barriers Introduction

Cavity Barriers Introduction There will be four videos: Introduction, Opening Barriers, General Compartmentation and Conclusion.

Today we introduce the topic and list our current findings. We go through how we see the current situation and suggest the potential way forward.

We are introducing FAT-bay. Virtual facade bay of hypothetical building which happened to have as many as possible of the problematic situations. This is our instrument to enquire industry about most challenging details as well as propose and discuss solutions in a safe environment.

Subsequent videos will explore all of the listed problematic facade elements in more detail.

In the next video we will closely look at cavity closers around the openings in isolation. Third video will explore vertical and horizontal compartmentation. We will also touch on balconies and corners.

Please raise any questions you may have in the comments below. Let us know about your experience with fire safety in ventilated facades. Have me missed any problematic scenarios? Do you want us to look at a particular commonly used detail? What do you believe is the optimal way of organising the design workflow and approval procedures?

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience.
