Guinea pigs are prone to get poked in the eye by their own hay. I can usually tell because they keep their Iittle eyes closed and rub they it with their little feetsies sometimes. Heartbreaking because the level of discomfort is very high.
It seems like every month I am helping a little one remove a piece of hay from deep inside the folds of the eye.
