PRISON DIARIES | August 21, 2019 | Adjusting to prison culture

This journal entry is from August 21, 2016. Ok, so prison is rough. No question. But you would be surprised just how difficult it is adjusting to prison culture. ESPECIALLY as a homosexual. The prison society is very very specific, and rooted in hard “matter-of-fact” rules. There are just certain things, behaviors, and mentalities that is assumed and expected from and by everybody. It is actually very confusing. On the one hand, I wanted to learn as much as I possibly could as quick as I could so that way I would blend in and adjust easily. But then on the other hand, I simply just did not want to be bothered and I was so overwhelmed and irritated with all this nonsense. Needless to say, adjusting to prison culture is a hard😝
