Making a Refined Giant LED - Part 8 - Diffused Bulb

Making a Refined Giant LED - Part 8 - Diffused Bulb In this video I discuss how I used dry powdered pigments to try and produce a diffused LED bulb effect. I tried two common white paint pigments Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) and Zinc Oxide (ZnO). The Titanium Dioxide was a much brighter more opaque white, the Zinc Oxide was a more translucent white effect.

For the example bulb I added 0.02% by weight of the Zinc Oxide powder pigment. I think this amount gives a good match to a normal 5 mm LED. But the internal details are then hidden by the depth of material. So in a future version I will try an even smaller percentage of pigment.
