Story No.7. The Nature of Matter

King Jaatshatru was strolling outside the town. Minister Subudhi was accompanying him. They came across a trench filled with water. It was filled with filth. Carcasses of animals were lying inside and the odour spread for miles. The King removed a cloth and placed it on his nose. The Minister was a philosopher as well. He told the King, “My Lord! This is the nature of matter.” After few days the Minister invited the King to his house for lunch. The King drank some water while having his meal. It was extremely pure, sweet and had a nice smell. The King said- “Minister! From where did you get this water? I want to drink 1 more glass. I consider you to be an integral part but you don’t think highly about me. You drink this sweet water yet you don’t give it to me. The Minister smiled and said, “King! I get this water from the trench where you had closed your nose due to the odour.” The King was astonished, “How is it possible? How can this water be from the same trench?” The Minister stayed firm on his words. The King asked for proof. The Minister ordered for water from the same trench to be brought. In the presence of the King, he performed the purification process. The water has transformed into the pure, sweet and odourless water as he had in the Minister’s house. Not just water, everything changes.


Moral: Even with perfect balance in everything, transformation is possible in anything or anybody.
