Making a Refined Giant LED - Part 6 - Internal Details and Legs

Making a Refined Giant LED - Part 6 - Internal Details and Legs A 5mm LED has a cathode (-, short) lead and an anode (+, long) lead. The shape of the internal features of the LED aren't standardise and can be different between manufacturers and even between batches from the same manufacturer.

The legs were modelled and produced using laser cutting, 3d printing and manual construction techniques. The model was then used to make a silicone mold with plaster of Pairs jacket.

The electrical connections are made through a 2mm banana socket, soldered to 1.6mm brass welding rods, these are then soldered to a small PCB with the LED and constant current source.
