Thái Nguyên is the capital and largest city of Thái Nguyên Province. The city is listed as the first, and ninth largest city in Vietnam. The city which is famous for producing tea now has 420,000 (2018).

Pekanbaru is one of the largest cities of Sumatra Island, and is the economic and administrative center of Riau Province. Pekanbaru has a population of 1,093,416 people (2014), and is predicted to continue to increase.
