Philippine Navy ships and several countries joined groups that sailed to Singapore BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17), one of the most capable offshore patrol boats from the Philippine Navy (PN), on Thursday joined Indian, Japanese and US naval vessels while transiting to Changi, Singapore, the second phase of ASEAN - Minister Defense Plus Training Meeting on Maritime Security Training (ADMM-Plus MARSEC FTX) 2019 will end on May 14.

The first phase of this maneuver was held in Busan, South Korea from April 29 to May 2.

"BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17) joined a quadrilateral together with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Forces, JS Izumo (DDH-183) and JS Murasame (DD-101), Indian Navy Vessels, INS Kolkata (D63) and Shakti ( A57)), and the US Pacific Fleet ship, USS William P. Lawrence (DDG-110), "80.6 officers of the public task force, Lieutenant Maria Christina A. Roxas from the Public Affairs Group said in a statement.

This joint transit exercise aims to deepen partnerships and foster mutual understanding between participating navies. During a week-long transit, the ship conducted a series of exercises and social interactions.

This will transit through the West Philippine Sea, where the application of "freedom of safe navigation" is applied to support a rule-based international system that benefits all countries.

Also, this naval activity validates decades of friendship, partnership and involvement of cooperatives that have long been established and observed between the Philippines, the US, Japan and India.

"The group delivery shows the active participation of the Philippine Navy because it strengthens relations with allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region. This gives us another opportunity to learn from the agreed navy," commander of Task Group 80.6 and head of PN led to ADMM Plus Delegation, said Captain Roy Vincent Trinidad.

Meanwhile, BRP commander Andres Bonifacio, Captain Jerry Y. Garrido said the activity highlighted PN's commitment to maintaining peace in the region.
